The Northern Ireland Assembly and Business Trust (NIABT) today has expressed its sadness at the tragic death of its trustee, Edward Haughey, Lord Ballyedmond.
Lord Ballyedmond was an enthusiastic supporter and member of the NIABT, and was committed to encouraging greater links between the local business community and political representatives.
Chairperson of the NIABT, Phil Flanagan MLA said: “We are deeply shocked by Eddie’s untimely death last night. He was a respected and significant member of the local business community, whose influence was felt across the world.
“Not only a successful businessman, Eddie found time to serve continuously on the Board of the NIABT from 2008. He also hosted a number of NIABT delegations at Westminster and welcomed many visits to his flagship company Norbrook Laboratories in Newry.
“Dr Haughey’s enthusiasm and generosity will be sadly missed by all of his NIABT colleagues. The NIABT would like to take this opportunity to express its sympathies to his family and many friends.”
